Disney Bound! T-2 Days!

Oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh!!!! We are about to go to Disney. I am beyond stoked. It is hard to decide who is more excited-me or Morgan. I grew up in Tampa, FL and have wonderful memories of going and can’t wait to share them with my family. It is also our first official family vacation-without going to a family members home. We are meeting up with our besties from CT and meeting their ADORABLE 9 month old daughter for the first time too. And we just got word that a family we were close with in CT who moved will ALSO be at Disney the same time as us. Holy best trip ever!

We are staying at the Port Orleans French Quarter and scored a free dining plan. We have reservations at Cinderella’s Royal Table, Epcot’s Coral Reef restaurant, and Hollywood Studios Hollywood & Vine. And no trip to Orlando is officially complete without a trip of Island’s of Adventure to see HARRY FREAKIN POTTERWORLD!!! Ya, that’s right, be jealous :).

On the subject of Harry Potter-Pottermore FINALLY opened and to be honest, it is kind of a let down. I don’t know what I was expecting but I thought we’d be able to move through the site faster. They have a bunch of sections locked off and no sign of when we can expect them to open. Bummer.

Pictures will come.

And here is what I leave you all with today. An explanation to part of my exhaustion.

The best pumpkin bread in the world. For reals.

Do you love pumpkin bread? Do you find that your family eats an entire loaf in a day? Then this is the recipe for you! I love this recipe because the ingredients prepare you to make not 1 but 3 loaves of pumpkin bread! I like to make one loaf plain, one with raisins, and one with chocolate chips. The bread freezes beautifully so, if you aren’t a glutton like me, you can stash one or two away. Perfect for stocking up for the fall, to have on hand for impromptu guests, or to give away to friends. You will NOT regret making this bread. Enjoy!

Please comment back if you make the recipe. I would love to hear what you thought about it. Tip: It is also super easy to switch out all of the separate spices and use pumpkin pie spice instead.

My child was attacked by a goat.

Ya, you read that right. My precious baby was attacked by a goat. Friday was a beautiful day in Dayton, Ohio. So beautiful that I decided to take my family to Young’s Jersey Dairy . My girls were super excited and the first thing they want to do is go feed the goats. Understand this, goats totally creep me out. Their eyes look nuts and they are always pushing and shoving each other around. Being around those animals is one of my least favorite things but I put my dislike of goats aside and move towards the pen.  As I am pulling out a quarter for goat feed (what a rip off), I hear my 5-year-old freaking out. I look up and there is a freaking goat trying to eat the purple flower clip that is attached to my daughter’s head. I run to her, unhinged the flower, and a clump of her hair from the goat’s mouth. I punch the goat away (ya, I did) and run to comfort my crying lady. She had very little damage done to her but it really freaked her out. I mean, come on, a goat attacked her head. I would have probably peed my pants. After some consoling and promising that she doesn’t have to go by the goat’s again, we continued on our way. Thank goodness my youngest, Emmie-2, was not being her usual rambunctious self and was staying next to me during all of this. We saw the baby animals (which happened to be goats much to my Morgan’s dismay), went down a huge slide and finished our outing with ice cream. Young’s has the best! I, unfortunately, am lactose combative and watched  the girls make a mess of themselves. I rounded them up to head back to the car and Emmie says, “Mom, feed the goats now.” “Babe, Morgan doesn’t want to see the goats because they scared her.” “I’m not scared! Feed the goat time.” So on we went back to the goats. Morgan opted to stay back at the picnic table and Emmie happily fed the disgusting goats.

Here is a picture of my strong girl after the goat battle. She’s alright 🙂 (Notice the lack of purple flower)

And the moral of the story is that if you must be by a goat, be ready to punch it.

Obscure Photo Tuesday

Let’s start a new fun tradition of posting a random obscure photo of myself (and sometimes loved ones). I will make a poll and the readers (if there are any) will vote on what year the picture will come from. My bestie picked the first year for today’s O.P.T. and she has chosen 1987!

This is a picture of me and my little sister. I am the super adorable one. Image

Most Amazing Banana bread-E.V.E.R.

Oh my Lord, how I love banana bread! Like I really really love. And one happy day I stumbled across this lovely gem on allrecipes.com: Banana Banana Bread. My world changed. This is one of the simplest and yummiest banana breads that I have ever made or eaten. It is so awesome that the loaf I made Easter Sunday was gone before my 5 year old was able to snag a piece. So I, being the wonderful mommy that I am, made my special girl a loaf today while she was at preschool. Here is a picture of the bread and my Morgan enjoying it. (Ignore the gob of butter)

You can easily mix in chocolate chips, nuts, or other fun items but my girl is a bread purest-no extra stuff. So make a loaf and let me know what you think!

Oh! A super cool tip I learned-You know how you have to wait FOREVER for the bananas to become overripe? Simply stick a bunch of bananas in the freezer for an hour, take them out to thaw, and the next morning they are super ripe! No more waiting for this family 🙂

Yup, I have a blog.

Hey! I’m Allison and this is my blog. I like to make a point to take on as much as I can possibly handle and then add one more thing just to see how far I can push myself before I hit the brink of insanity. There have been a couple of close calls but so far so good.

This is a picture of me and my amazing husband this past September. He is totally my rock and can talk me off the edge. We have been together since high school and will be celebrating our 7 year wedding anniversary this summer. We also have 2 amazingly awesome children whose lovely faces will grace this blog in a future post.

I would like to start off my blog with offering a peak & a valley. A peak being a high point and a valley being a low point for those of you who have no idea what I am talking about.

My peak: Easter was yesterday and I had a WONDERFUL day at church and with my family. I love being able to worship and feel the Lord’s presence and hear my children speak of God’s love. A-maz-ing.

My pit: Freakin’ Pottermore. As you will grow to know, I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan. Like almost scary but not over the line yet. Pottermore is a website that is dedicated to learning more about the wizarding journey and diving into the action in your own experience. It was SUPPOSED to be open in October. Nope. Then we heard news that it would be this spring and FINALLY the website posted that “Pottermore will open to everyone in early April.” It is now April 9th and there is still no Pottermore. Be warned that their may be riots. These crazy wizarding people are NOT afraid to Imperius curse these muggles so we can get some Harry Potter action. ::Walking away from the Pottermore vent::

This is the first of many random and, hopefully, interesting and inspiring posts to come. For now, you guys can answer my poll ❤
